Mars Edit 3 Review
In the world of blogging on the mac there are very few desktop apps that really integrate well with your blogging platform. Probably the most acclaimed is MarsEdit which is made by RedSweater Software.
Compatibility
MarsEdit works with a plethora of CMS’ for example:
- WordPress
- Tumblr
- MovableType
- Blogger
- ETC…
Getting Started
Mars edit is very easy to set up, when you first start the app you are greeted by a very nice welcome screen which guides you through the process of setting up mars edit and adding your weblog to it so you can begin publishing content immediately. Note: If you are using wordpress you need to enable atom publishing in the settings menu for mars edit to discover your blog.
Publishing Content
Publishing content in MarsEdit is an absolute breeze, All you have to do is click “New Post” on the top toolbar and off you go. To insert an image into your post just drag and drop from a folder on your mac and follow the onscreen instructions. You can also add categories to your posts with in MarsEdit which is very convenient. The UI of MarsEdit is very similar to mail so you will feel right at home while editing. Mars Edit offers the ability to add Technorati Tags, choose pre-defined categories, and ping weblog services let them know that you have updated your content.
The Downfalls
MarsEdit is a very good desktop publisher but it does have it’s shortcomings, for example there is not yet support for linked blog posts which is something I use on my blog constantly. Another is image posting. When you are writing a post for your blog and you Insert an image using media manager in MarsEdit it displays the image very large and even if you make it smaller it may not look right when you are viewing your post on your blog.

The Holy Grail Of Ubiquitous Plain-Text Capture | Lifehacker Australia
Ubiquitous capture — that is, the ability to snag any thought or idea any time and anywhere it happens to crop up — is a key component to nearly every productivity philosophy. You want to capture those fleeting ideas before they’re gone, and you don’t want to waste brain power obsessing over remembering it until you can write it down somewhere. Below, I’ll walk you through the best ubiquitous capture system I’ve ever encountered.Great writeup on how to use Simplenote as a hub to get your plain-text files available to you anywhere. This is pretty much the setup I roll with but, as you may have read in a recent interview, I take the added step of storing my .txt database in Dropbox. This gives me the added bonuses of deletion protection and versioning.

My iPhone 3g
About 16 days ago I got my “new” iphone 3g (well new to me because it was the first iphone that I have ever owned.) So far it is a wonderful device even though it is two years old and runs sluggishly on iOS 4 but that doesn’t really matter to me anyway because it is such a cool device. This is not my first iOS device I have many iPod Touches but this is my First iPhone. So far I love it. And I couldn’t be happier with it.

It’s not only the setup, it’s also the photography. I love the hint of sunlight bouncing off the edge of the desk and the aloe vera plant (which, by the way, is a handy desk accessory if you own an older aluminum Macbook).
